And Then There Was Air Zimbabwe Private Limited

The government has started work on its plan to get Air Zimbabwe back into the air. The first thing they have done is to disband the its current incarnation Air Zimbabwe Holdings and then replaced it with a state-owned Air Zimbabwe Private Limited. In essence our tax dollars now run Air Zimbabwe, or at least partly.

The thing though is that peculiarly its shareholding sits with the Ministries of Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development and Finance.

A whole board has been put together with Secretary for Transport Mr Patson Mbiriri chairig the interim board.

There is talk of interested investors but we will not doing cartwheels over that as yet. We are not saying there can’t be one. Mind you SAA announced an agreement of sorts with Air China recently.

We just want a bird with the national flag up in the sky.

We don’t know when that will be.
