The early work on a formula 1 track for Zimbabwe’s resort town of Victoria Falls has apparently begun.
Speaking to Sunday News, Hwange Rural District Council resident engineer Alick Mudenda confirmed the development stating:
I can confirm that we allocated Nanta Safaris land in Jembwe Village in Kachechete ward for the construction of a motor racing course and currently they are at design stage
Work on the 500-hectare site of the proposed theme park situated at Jembwe Village, Kachechete ward in Hwange District, about 30 kilometres east of Victoria Falls has already started.
In July of 2018, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for a G1 standard Grand Prix in Victoria Falls by a Dubai company as which was said to sit on 5 acres. At that time it was said that five banks were interested in working on the project.
This project is a much larger scale and will lend more to the resort town which suffers from a dearth of activity outside of its nature related prospects which makes it a place people often visit for the day after flying in from South Africa and then get out.
A theme park would be a good look.
But we have been here before. Where people announce deals and break the ground before going home for a long nap.
