Zimbabwe’s 2022 Fifa World Cup Qualifier group is as weird as they could have come

They are in Group G where they will face Ghana, South Africa and Ethiopia.

Now for all intent and purpose, the two big knowns are Ghana and South Africa while Ethiopia is the odd one.

Zimbabwe, if prepared can get that coveted top spot after doing so in the Africa Cup of Nations which featured the two Congos, themselves serious machines.

The Warriors will not be quaking in their boots when they face Ghana or South Africa as they have something of a new golden generation with some eye-catching talent.

It means that on paper, Zimbabwe have the pedigree to win that group.

But then, they lost away to Somalia in the qualifier before the group stage, in what was a demonstration of weird Zimbabwe can be.

It is now down to who the Zimbabwe Football Association appoint as national team coach. They are capable of getting it right or bungling it in equal measure.

So as we say, it is weird group…
