While scrolling through Tinder, we found someone who identified as demisexual.

Of course being curious as George, we decided that the subject needed some exploring.

Now the simple definition of someone being demisexual is someone who cannot form a relationship with someone without being emotionally into them.

According to The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN):

A demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone. It’s more commonly seen in but by no means confined to romantic relationships. Nevertheless, this term does not mean that demisexuals have an incomplete or half-sexuality, nor does it mean that sexual attraction without emotional connection is required for a complete sexuality. In general, demisexuals are not sexually attracted to anyone of any gender; however, when a demisexual is emotionally connected to someone else (whether the feelings are romantic love or deep friendship), the demisexual experiences sexual attraction and desire, but only towards the specific partner or partners.

So how do you know if you are one.

Well we have five signs:

  1. All your romantic relationships started off as friendships: Complete trust and security is what attracts you to someone. It is deep. And when you can be that complete with someone, then you can develop the attraction. You have the deets.
  2. First dates are super-important: More often than not especillay around millenials, first dates are a bit of whatever they can be. You are picky about little things because for you, this could be everything or nothing.
  3. Random sexual attraction is fleeting: So like most people you could feel sexually attracted to someone, as in their looks and all but you function on secondary attraction which is more about the personality. So you can easily be put off by the person.
  4. When you crush on someone, it is a big deal: While some can throw their crushes away at a whim, you obsess about it all.
  5. Friendships confuse you sometimes: So like in number one, an attraction develops and it is sudden. You get confused and it gets awkward.

It is a struggle fam. So we understand.
