Stand-in captain Sean Williams starred with bat and ball as Zimbabwe beat Nepal by 40 runs in the fourth match of the Singapore tri-series on Tuesday.
He made 53 off 35 balls before taking for 3-21 to blunt the chase by the Nepalese.
Williams’s knock, chiefly as part of a 60-run partnership with Tino Mutombodzi helped rescue the Zimbabwe innings which looked in danger at 38-3 at some point after Sandeep Lamicchane again took wickets early, this time account for Brian Chari (0) and the dangerous-looking PJ Moor (21).
Khadka bowled Williams shortly after he made his half century. The score was 112-5 and Ryan Burl (28*) and Richmond Mutumbami (17) both helped Zimbabwe to 160/6 from their 20 overs.
William Mashinge (1-37) and Daniel Jakiel (1-17) both took wickets on debut. Tino Mutombodzi (2-12), Ryan Burl (1-8) and Tendai Chatara (1-22) picked up wickets as well.
Wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari top-scored for Nepal 33 with Aarif Sheikh made 25 as they were restricted to 120/9.
Singapore play Nepal on Wednesday before Zimbabwe date the former to round off the tournament on Thursday.
