Scientists Grow Meat In The Lab

Dutch scientists have used stem cells to create strips of muscle tissue with the aim of producing the first lab-grown hamburger later this year.

It is said the meat is off-white and resemble strips of calamari(squid meat) in appearance and will be mixed with blood and artificially grown fat to produce a hamburger-like meat by end of this year.

As crazy as it might sound growing meat in the laboratory is an efficient way of producing food.

Rearing animals is an expensive business. Before we eat beef it takes roughly ten months for gestation. Then it has to grow during which it need food, medicine, shelter, protection and people to look after it. So looking at the issue strictly from a cost effective point of view it makes sense.

Would we eat lab meat? Certainly not!
