Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has said the Cyclone Joanina which is in the Indian Ociean will not affect Zimbabwe.
In a statement released the Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, she said the cyclone was ‘a reality, based in the Indian Ocean’. She added that the cyclone is based there and is far from mainland Africa.
The cyclone will start and end in the Indian Ocean and will not even affect Madagascar said Mutsvangwa.
She has urged people to rely on the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) for accurate information, encouraging social media and mainstream media to report on things related to disasters from an informed position.
The MSD works with organisations including the United Nations.
