Gogo Hatifari Munongi made headlines two years ago when she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sociology and Gender Development from the Women’s University in Africa (WUA) in Zimbabwe.
Now she has set up a village in the City of Harare’s suburb of Marlborough in an effort to preserve the culture and indigenous knowledge. it is a replica of a traditional homestead with a round hut, a cattle pen and even a rabbit run.
Speaking to AFP she said:
The idea was to give urban children an idea of how African people lived before and now. Children in urban areas did not know a lot of things. This place is open for early childhood classes, primary school, secondary school, college and university students. There is a lot for them to learn.
And to get in costs you $3 for adults and $1 for kids.
Massive move we think. Inspired.
