Acclaimed South African band Freshlyground returns to Harare this weekend for a one-off performance hosted by the Twelve – Music Every Month series.
Freshlyground has performed twice at the Harare International Festival of the Arts and have a large cross-cultural following in Zimbabwe. In this year’s edition they performed the political song Chicken To Chinja, a track that had pretty much kept them out of Zimbabwe under the Robert Mugabe administration.
This Friday 12 October, they’re at the Jam Tree in Harare’s Mount Pleasant suburb, where gates open at 6pm and supporting acts include locals So Kindly, Blessing Chimanga and Rob Macson. Live music starts at 7pm, with Freshlyground scheduled to be on stage at 9pm.
The band’s line-up for this visit includes Zolani Mahola on lead vocals, Peter Cohen (drums), Julio Sigauque (guitar), Simon Attwell (saxophone, flute and keyboards), Christina Bakalanga (guitar).
Advance tickets are available at the Jam Tree and also online at twelve.co.zw.
