VIDEO: Tuku gifts couple surprise wedding performance on his birthday

It was already a special day for Sam Nyahunzvi and Mercy Waziya as they shared vows on their wedding day.

And their day coincided with the 66th birthday of African icon Oliver Mtukudzi.

Enter Tuku, his manager Walter Wanyanya and the band in collusion with Mercy’s father.

The couple don’t know we will be perfoming and neither do the guests, we met the father of the bride yesterday and he allowed us to give his daughter this perfomance for free.A simple way to say thank you

And enter he did to the wild euphoria of the crowd and the stunned couple, Sam covering his face, overwhelmed by the gesture. Mercy can’t hold back the tears.

Te couple eventually stands up to dance.

We asked Wanyanya what this felt like for Tuku. He was brief:

Nzou [Tuku] was over the moon. He enjoyed every minute and described it as one one of his most memorable moments

But it was still his birthday and we asked what he did. It was dinner with the band a close family. 

Then Sunday was Kumusha.

Classy from Tuku and he is allowed on the boat anytime… And we won’t ask him to perform.
