Rumbi Venge gives her acceptance speech

Critically Venge says her tenure will be characterised by:

A lot of vibrance and I have learnt and understood the power of social media. The power of fellowship and really not trying to reinvent the wheel. Just going back to the basics where we are a group of people who enjoy service, serving others, getting involved in a lot of charity work, we are guided by the WASH, Water and Sanitation Health. We look at maternity issues, infant mortality issues. We are also committed to fighting polio… We also focus on literacy in the youth. We’ve got a lot of book projects going on. We have solar lamps which are given with books, so even if children are in areas that are deprived of electricity they can still read and get lost in the world of books. We also do wheelchair projects.

As for what she learnt from her predecessor, Venge says it is the art of diplomacy and inclusivity.
