It’s all over! Luckily for you guys though we have for you the best at performers who graced the Russian show piece.

Here is our star studded team:

GK- D. Subasic Croatia

The Golden Glove award went to Courtois for best goal keeper but we think it would be unfair to deny the ever reliable Subasic. En route to helping his nation to the finals he made multiple crucial saves and had no high profile errors. He was also the hero in two high pressure penalty shoot outs an amazing feat.

LB- L. Hernandez France

A late entry into our teams of the tournament the 22 year old Atletico Madrid defender has finally proven his worth. His all-round defense solidity was complemented by efficient attacking forays like the one we saw in the final to set up Kylian Mbappe’s goal. Definitely one to watch out for the future.

CB- R. Varane France

The Real Madrid centre back has become France’s defensive lynchpin carrying over club form to country. At 25 he has won almost every competition available to him and it’s no wonder why. He is a natural reader and a great reader of the game. Definitely one for the big occasion.

CB- A. Granqvist Sweden

The iceman returns and rightly so, Sweden’s great run in the tournament was largely down to his leadership and set piece prowess. The old warrior did his nation proud.

RB- Vrsaljko Croatia

Another late entry but definitely a major actor for Croatia. His battling attitude and dangerous crosses made Croatia a constant threat from the right. His stock has gone up and should be a star going forward.

CDM- N. Kante France

It has often been said that it seems like there is more than one of him each time he plays. His infinite reserves of energy and ability to win back the ball make him easily the best defensive midfielder in Russia. From Ligue 2 to World Champion in just nine years also deserves all the good things in life.

CM- L. Modric* Croatia

Magical Modric, now officially the best player at the tournament and deservedly so. A genius, makes the game look easy to play when it never is so. This might be his last World Cup at 32 but he should be proud. It’s been one to remember.

CAM- E. Hazard

A constant threat to all opposition sides. It hasn’t been a shabby tournament overall as well with 3 Player of the Match awards, two goals and as many assists. He was also second in the voting for best player.

LW- K. Mbappe

The leader of the new school has truly set the tournament a blaze. Four goals including a virtuoso performance to eliminate Argentina, dynamite seems to come in Mbappe sized packages. The prodigious number 10 is now also only the only teenager to score in a World Cup final alongside Pele. He also has the best young player award to show for his efforts.

ST- H. Kane England

Couldn’t bring it all home but definitely cemented his status as a global superstar. His 6 goals make him the tournaments sharpest marksman securing his name in the history books.

RW- A. Griezmann France

Exorcised the ghosts of Champions League and Euro finals by finally scoring in this one. His 100% record from the spot has been vital for France and his all round play was brilliant as usual. Four goals and a gold medal make fr a great summer.
