Zimbabwe took the lead thanks to a goal from Evans Rusike who took advantage of a through pass from Khama Billiat to bear down on goal, shaking off a defender to put it in the top corner.

Zimbabwe created many chances but did not score and were punished in the second half. They fell asleep in defence and let a corner trickle off Makgantai to equalise.

One after the other the Warriors but rarely tested the goalkeeper in spite of getting themselves into dangerous positions. Swedish top flight leading goal scorer Tino Kadewere showed some good touches later on but Zimbabwe could not break the barrier.

Then came the penalties.

Only Seakanyeng converted for Botswana. And Chigova stood up, saving three penalties in a row with his teammates converting their spot kicks.

3-1 it ended and now Zimbabwe face Lesotho on Wednesday. In the other semi-final, Zambia and Madagascar will lock horns.

There was a worry over skipper Ovidy Karuru who was stretchered off after a bad tackle on him. But team doctors except him to fine.
