As long as you can give me this [decks and mixer] I can challenge anyone.
That is what Zimbabwe EDM DJ Bhana said to us where we bumped into him at Tin Roof where he has been resident DJ for the past four years.
The pint-sized magician mixes music like someone on ultrasound adrenaline. His dexterity between genres and with the ability to control the mood of the crowd is a touch of class for the 24 year-old.
From a few years ago when he was a resident DJ at what was then called H2O, Bhana has grown in leaps and bounds performing with the electric head unit, Hidden Culture on multiple occasions including the Victoria Falls Carnival and the annual Neverland festival.
The moment he skillful played the purveyor of the dark arts from TI’s Whatever You Lie to Bryan Adams’s Summer of 69 without skipping a beat, raising pulses or redefining individual thoughts on the meaning of life was intense.
And for the culture he served us with our dose of Avicii:
I was touched about him. Bro. It’s sad because he was so positive.
Bhana himself is a producer and on his Facebook page shared a teasers for a remix to a song from Zimbabwean rock band Evicted called Tomorrow
The caption read:
As a 11 year old boy it had always been my dream to do something for EVICTED and now 13 years down the line I am so Grateful to share with you a Teaser of my Official Remix of their song ‘Tomorrow’. Thank you for all your support and to the person behind the scenes who’s always pushing me beyond my limits.🙏 #music #newmusic #dj #producer#housemusic #dreamscometrue #zimbabwe
We’ve heard a bit of it, and reinforces our belief in Bhana, the little magician… For the EDM culture.
