Chawaguta, Ziehl bounce back as Zimbabwe Cricket appoints interim selection panel

The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board has appointed a three-man interim national selection panel.

Walter Chawaguta will be the convener of selectors, heading the panel that includes Kenyon Ziehl and Prosper Utseya.

Ziehl and Chawaguta have both previously served as national selectors, while Utseya’s experience as a former Zimbabwe captain will come in handy. The trio replaces former national team captain Tatenda Taibu who held the role on his own.

Chawaguta, along with Taibu was relieved of his duties as national fielding coach after the disastrous ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament held in Zimbabwe this past March. The sweeping cull saw the removal of all technical personnel at national. A and under-19 level.

Their immediate task of the interim panel is to pick the squad that will face Australia and Pakistan in a triangular Twenty20 International (T20I) series scheduled for July in Harare.
