Zimbabwe batting improves but still falls short as Afghanistan take series

Zimbabwe had a better showing with the bat in their 17-run loss to Afghanistan in the second Twenty20 match at Sharjah Stadium in Dubai.

Zimbabwe won the toss and put Afghanistan to bat and an innings that hinged on Mohammad Nabi’s 45, Karim Sadiq’s 28, Asghar Stanikzai’s 14-ball 27)and Najibullah Zadran’s 18-ball 24 for Afghanistan to post 158 for 9.

The score looked like it it would be a lot bigger but or braces from Tendai Chatara (3-20) and Kyle Jarvis (2-22).

16 year-old Mujeeb Zadran (2-21) and Rashid Khan (2-23)  were the architects of this win.

Solomon Mire fell early but the middle order stepped up.Hamilton Masakadza made a 29 ball 30, Brendan Taylor 16 off 15, Sikandar Raza’s 40 from 26 and Ryan Burl on a run-a-ball 30.

However it was not enough as Zimbabwe could only make 141 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Afghanistan take the series 2-0 and now move to the one day series.
