A moment with… Trill Angel

Some know from back in the day as the Raydizz’s woman. Trill Angel is now a DJ and a brand in her own stead.

Born Amy Peters, the drop dead gorgeous beauty took to the decks in 2014. It is hard to deny that her sexiness and style shine through the decks but it is how she has adapted to skillfully mixing various genres with the dexterity of a veteran that is an incredible story, especially in such a short time.

Now a resident DJ at at the high end Pablo’Z VIP & Club as well as Hometown, Trill Angel has been trail-blazing with profile that includes gigs at Horizons in Bulawayo, Centurion, Sky Bar and add to that at some point a regular feature every Thursday morning on Star FM.

We caught up with her for a quick interview and this the is the exclusive moment with 3-mob.com:

What is your government name?
Amy Delree Nicola Peters

What do you like to call yourself?
I actually prefer my name Nicola, but I like people also calling me Trill

What is the most ridiculous nickname you have ever had?
Lol, my dad used to call me “Dooby” because I used to love watching Scooby Doo as a kid

Which side of the bed do you sleep on?
I love the right side of my bed

Are you left-handed or right-handed?
I’m right handed. My left is actually pretty useless lol

What is your favourite instrument?
I’d say my favourite instrument is between the piano, drum, and guitar, it’s tough to pick one

What is the first song you fell in love with?
Oh my, the first song I fell in love with? I actually don’t think I remember, but I have so many favourites throughout the years… Maybe I could say the one that has stuck the most was Nicki Minaj’s Moment For Life.

Best concert you have ever been to?
The only concert I’ve actually been to was Pharrell Williams, that was pretty cool

Of the shows you have done, which one is your favourite?
Hmmm the best show I’ve done. I think so far I can say it was the Fallin’ festival 2015 in Victoria Falls for New Years. I’ve loved all the shows I’ve done, but the energy and vibe at that festival was amazing and it was the biggest stage I was on so far at the time, so my emotions and excitement added to it all.

How do you deal with groupies?
Haha, I like to let the groupies down easy, I think most people know of my relationship and respect it so it’s not so much, but those who don’t know will always try.

How excited were you when the first groupie hollered at you?
I actually get excited when girls come up to me and say they admire me and look up to me, because guys will always hit on girls whether they’re groupies or not. But for girls to come up to me and say they love me I think it’s really cool. I feel like it’s also support from girls which is awesome. I was actually so taken back when a girl came up to me in the gig and told me how much she looks up to me and loves me, and she wanted me to autograph her body, that was pretty cool.

Where is Zimbabwean female djing going?
I think Zimbabwe’s female DJ industry will only expand and get bigger because I hear of more women wanting to DJ, taking an interest in it and wanting to pursue it. But it also comes with so much work and the few female DJs here still have a lot of work to do and prove we’re just as good as the guys, even better 😉

Where is your career going?
My career, wow I got plenty plans, as they unfold I’ll be letting you know, but as a whole I can say growth and becoming a bigger and better brand is what I’m working on, expanding and working on different ventures.

What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a DJ who doesn’t only play music but puts on a show and entertains the crowd. I believe that will put my name on the map internationally, and I’ll be one of the first few female DJs from Zimbabwe to be known around Africa, and hopefully globally. Fingers crossed 🙂
