Zimbabwe Women dominate in first two T20s against Namibia

Zimbabwe Women’s cricket team won both matches in the first two Twenty20 matches of their series against Namibia at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare.

In the first match Nomvelo Sibanda and Anesu Mushangwe returned figures of 3-16 and 3-8 respectively as Namibia were bowled out for 67 in 17.2 overs. Loreen Tshuma took two wickets and conceded no runs in three overs bowled.

Zimbabwe made light work of the total scoring 71 off just 7.1 overs to win the match by nine wickets. Ashley Ndiraya was the only one out for 27.

In the afternoon match, Zimbabwe batted first and amassed 164-5 from their 20 overs.

Captain Chipo Mugeri top-scored with 37, Mushangwe scored 35 and wicket keeper Modester Mupachikwa scored 34.

An extras column of 26 did not help Namibia.

Namibia fared better with the willow in the after, Anneri van Schoor scoring an unbeaten 61. It was always going to be too much for the visitors as they could only reach 121-4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Zimbabwe won that match by 43 runs to lead the series 2-0.

Two matches are slated for the same venue on Tuesday with a final one on Wednesday at Harare Sports Club.
