QUICK SONG REVIEW: Chengeto – Faya

A burgeoning voice, Chengeto is making her way into the music spaces in Zimbabwe.

This tropical sounding single, is very sprightly and youthful.

It has those elements you want in a song, especially in Zimbabwean spaces, the earworm and the call back.

It’s written in good form for an audience will get it, without need for pretensions, she sees the love potion as the thing that was chosen by the gods:

Ndakanamatira rudo ndikapihwa iwe (I prayed for love and got you)

Having almost come under the radar before many treated her before as Ammara’s baby sister but she has since stepped out of it and presented her own urbane sound.
