AUDIO: It’s good social media is being used for politics – Mandiwanzira

Zimbabwe’s ICT, Postal and Courier Services minister Supa Mandiwanzira says he is happy that social media is being used for political discourse.

He made the remarks on the side of the recent launch of ZOL Zimbabwe’s 2017 campaign.

When quizzed first about ICT being used as a political weapon Mandiwanzira said:

ICTs broadband and Internet have become such an integral part of our lives that it has almost become a human right. And that people must have access to Internet.

When asked about the political conversations on the Internet:

I think that it is already being used in all types of conversations. It is very difficult to put aside political conversations and say we can’t have it or it is not going to be used for political conversation… It is going to be used in political campaigns and mobilisation… It’s good..
