QUICK SONG REVIEW: Morris Blacks – U Bae

For starters,  Morris Blacks is a Zimbabwean hip hop artist who is currently based is South Africa.

And with his few years in the industry  the rapper has  already worked with some of the highly-acclaimed artists,  the likes of ChadDaDon and Ab-Crazy. Now he has unveiled his newest single U bae and which we quickly listened to.

As typical as it sound,  U bae is summarily love hip hop love song in which Morris raps about his newly-found love Twista, whether fictional or real. Yet, unlike other hip hop tracks, it’s not just a hook up song as it goes on to details the rapper’s search to somehow continue that connection;

…never mind I should only worry about the wedding ring.

The beat is shoulder-shimmying and bopping  and the combination of a hard-hitting bass with fairly generic drum patterns backing up simple synth arrangements is pretty good. Morris’ high-energy delivery is refreshing,  in that it helps us to escape the dominating mumbling that’s has become the new style or rap. Consisting of two standout  verses, the song is short, yet punchy and undeniably clever, except for some cast off lyrics like telling a girl that you love her less than your mother, threats to catch a body (the same type of lyrics that landed the GS9 gang in prison ) , and obnoxious chides to her ex who broke up with her before you met her. This is just  downright tacky.

Worthwhile track. It’s taken of his It’s Not Easy To Be Humble EP.
