We have just gotten wind of the sad news that popular Johannesburg night spot Bassline will be closing doors at the end of December.
Journalist Gary Nicholson from The Daily Maverick was the first to alert us of the sad news:
BREAKING: Bassline is closing its doors to focus on special events & festivals. So no more Thursday Admiral and Jah Seed. This is a tragedy

The venue closes down after 22 years in business the venue says it was just no longer viable to carry on doing business in the current format with slow growth in the South African economy. As such it was moving to a more mobile business in direction and strategy.
As for the Thursday nights, DJ Radix said:
We gonna move the event, Bassline was just the venue https://t.co/hfkxZtdIue

Sad news. Kinda like when Book Cafe in Harare closed and started doing pop-up shows.
