What the Sri Lanka wash-out means for Zimbabwe

So as you will know Zimbabwe’s crucial game against Sri Lanka was called off because of rain at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The Chevrons needed a win to have some control of the riangular series which also has West Indies in it to qualify for the final on the weekend.

Only 13.3 overs were possible and Zimbabwe were 55-2 at that point. The rain came down and even though it was done, there was not enough time to clear the wet outfield because of poor drainage systems at the grounds.

Sri Lanka take on West Indies on Wednesday before Zimbabwe wrap it up against the latter.

As it stands the winner of the Wednesday match is through to the final. And even if West Indies lose on Wednesday they have a better net run rate to work with which means they can still be in the final bar a loss of incredible magnitude.
