Olympic legend Kirsty Coventry was unable to make the finals of the 100m backstroke after coming 6th in her semi-final event at the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
She posted the pic above on her Instagram account with the message:
I wanted to make Finals in the 100 Backstroke tonight but didn’t. I have to remind myself that I came 11th in the World at my 5th Olympics and I have always represented Zimbabwe, my friends and family to the best of my ability.
Please keep up the support as I race#JustOneMore on the 11th and 12th in my favourite event – the 200m Backstroke.
We feel you Kirsty. We thank you for making it there again, for us. We believe in you, our hero on this Heroes Day.
You already hold 7 of the 8 medals Zimbabwe has at all Olympics so your legend status cannot be questioned.
And we will be screaming our voices out like the groupies we are on Thursday and Friday. Go get it.
