A group of fans representing the Zimbabwe Cricket Supporters Union held a small protest at Harare Sports Club on Monday during the match against India.
This was after Zimbabwe had capitulated to a paltry 126 all out after just 34 overs.
Said one fan:
We have been supporting these boys for more than a decade and nothing changes. Taneta. Takuda Zvinyuwani. Tonguya tichingosekwa. Trikudao cricket irinani. (We’re tired. We want something new. We’re now alaughing stock. We want better cricket)
Said the chairman of the union:
What we are worried about is that players are not improving. These players need to man up and improve and respect the board and the supporters.
Another fan
We are buying five bucks a head to watch this rubbish.
Added another who quipped:
Maybe they need to change the supporters… At times we have skipped to come and watch these guys and they have failed.
A club cricket player
I see no future for us because this is going nowhere. My mom will kick me out of home because she sees no future in it.
The fans chanted that the players should be arrested and made to face treason.
