In the first match Zimbabwe barely broke a sweat as they restricted Tanzania to a paltry 36 with Nomatter Mutasa grabbing three wickets for six runs and Precious Marange taking two for six. Debutante Nomvelo Sibanda and Josephine Nkomo claimed a wicket apiece.

And there were even 9 extras.

Openers Modester Mupachikwa (20) and Marange (18) got Zimbabwe to the total with the latter finishing unbeaten.

In the second match Uganda made it tougher posting 71 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Sharne Mayers smashed an unbeaten 19 off 12 balls to help the hosts chase down the target of 72 in 12.4 overs.

Mupachikwa scored 19 too and, although her effort came off 29 balls, the knock was important in stabilising the innings that had been shaken by the early loss of Marange for six runs and captain Chipo Mugeri for one.

Ashley Ndiraya contributed five with the bat, while Mary-Anne Musonda finished unbeaten on nine.

In other matches Kenya made it two of two as well beating Uganda 13 runs and posting a 58-run victory over Tanzania.

The round robin continues tomorrow with Zimbabwe playing Kenya and then Tanzania at the Country Club. Uganda will play Tanzania and then Kenya at Alexandra Sports Club.
