We’re a bit late on this but  Zimbabwe-born actress Chiedza ‘Chi’ Mhende has gone where no other actress on South African television has gone.

She is the first woman ever to play a man on television following her portrayal of Wandile on Generations: The Legacy.

The role created a huge conversation on the social media zeitgeist, when it surfaced. She plays Wandile a man struggling with his sexuality who turns into Candice.

According to her interview with Channel 24 it takes her a full hour to transform in Wandile. That is dedication.

After being raised in Zimbabwe  Mhende moved to Cape Town in 2006 to study at the African Film and Drama Arts School of Motion Picture  Medium and Live Performance.

She is African Movie Award nominee and a winner of best actress at the Durban International Festival.

She also does voice-over work and has worked with Al-Jazeera on Lifelines.

Mhende also an accomplished stage performer.

Deep!

Yes we were slow on this but this is too amazeballs a moment to ignore. It is just too awesome.
