No DStv price increases this year… unless…

Multichoice has announced that there will be no traditional annual increase in subscriptions this year for access to the DStv platform…

unless…

you are in South Africa.

South Africans will see an increase of at least 8% next month due to the performance of the Rand against the dollar. They pay for content in dollars you see.

For most of the rest of us in Africa, it is as-you-were.

Imtiaz Patel, CEO of Naspers’ video entertainment division:

We believe MultiChoice Africa is correctly responding to prevailing market conditions. Barring any further external economic shocks, we do not anticipate a price increase in 2016

Well that is barring no shocking economic what-nots.

Lovemore Mangwende, MultiChoice Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer:

We are extremely pleased to announce that there will be no price increase on DStv subscriptions this April on any of the bouquets.Barring any further external economic shocks, we do not anticipate a price increase in 2016. This means that from next month, DStv subscribers can fully immerse themselves in the exciting world of DStv entertainment, at no extra cost.

Can we do the happy dance? Or at least twerk? Well twerk… erm no.
