The singer put up a Facebook post in which she accused those posts of amounting to cyber-bullying:

If i say ive not bn affected by the cyber bullying i am going thru with my personal pics being photo shopped everywhere in a degrading manner then Ild be lying.

She called it the worst period in her life:

This cyber bullying is my worst experience but ndangosiira zvese in God’s hands. I have gne for days without appropriate sleep or food for loss of appetite and sleep all coz i am being attacked for the success of Daidzai Vakuru; competitors and enermies vying for my blood. My personal life is shaken …Its a miracle that i can still hold my shoulders high and wave back , pose for pictures with thousands of fans i meet when travelling in my branded car under the circumstances.

She then added that she was now working on her last album.

The post is rather interesting and it shows what the cauldron of the entertainment of the industry can be like. It’s brutal because everything you do is about public relations and while Fungisai can be allowed the emotion the reality is when you get into this business, terms and conditions apply.

In effect in a country with a more active and instant media it would be a much bigger issue.

The reality for Fungisai is that more people know her now than did before. Memes by their nature are cultural inflections and she is part of that rarefied group that can benefit from the huge publicity. In essence this would be the time to put out product while the world is paying attention.

She has the right to take it personally, but that is essentially getting yourself all worked up.
