I’m inspired to be invited all over the world over the next month to perform stand up comedy and talk about how we are using humour in Zimbabwe as a tool for change. I really feel that the Zimbabwean comedy scene has some interesting lessons to share with the world.

First on the list of destinations is New Delhi, India, where Comrade Fatso will attend the Coalition – Festival of Creativity from the 4thto 6th March 2016. The festival is set to host over 5,000 people and Comrade Fatso is set to perform and give talks about how he uses satire to speak truth to power in a country with limited freedom of expression. Next up after India will be Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, where Comrade Fatso has been invited to the Global Issues Summit from 11th – 13th Marchwhere he will be a performer as well as being a keynote speaker talking about his comedy and activism. He will be a keynote speaker alongside New York Times best-selling author Ishmael Beah whose memoir was named by Time Magazine as one of the Top 10 Nonfiction books of 2007.

The final stop on the tour will be Belgium where Comrade Fatso and Zambezi News co-creator Outspoken have been invited to give a prestigious TEDx talk. After their recent 2016 nominations at the National Arts Merit Awards and the Freedom of Expression awards run by Index On Censorship (UK) the daring faux news show is slated to give a TEDx talk in Belgium under the title “Challenge Accepted!” The event is slated to see co-creators Comrade Fatso and Outspoken travelling to TEDxUHasselt on the 25th of March 2016 and speaking on the challenges and drive behind the production.TED is a non-profit organization dedicated to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started in California 25 years ago TED has grown to support world changing ideas and hosting leading thinkers such as Bill Gates, Al Gore and Richard Branson.
