Most Facebook friends are fake, study says

So just because someone is your friend on Facebook it doesn’t mean they actually care whether you are happy or sad etc.

Facebook

A new study says that oft he 150 friends you have, 15 are actually true friends. And of those 5 are close friends.

The good news is that they slow down the decay of friendships, according to Robin Dunbar, a professor of evolutionary psychology at Oxford University who conducted the research:

Friendships, in particular, have a natural decay rate in the absence of contact, and social media may well function to slow down the rate of decay. However, that alone may not be sufficient to prevent friendships eventually dying naturally if they are not occasionally reinforced by face-to-face interaction.

We think it is the evolution of human beings really. Some will care more and some less. People will tell you that they have met some amazing friends on Facebook and more than the five.

But the geeks have the information.
