South Africa’s Department of Correctional Services has announced that the release of Oscar Pistorius on probation has been suspended.
Minister Michael Masutha said the decision for the release scheduled for Friday was made without legal basis and prematurely.
It has been sent to Correctional Supervision and Parole Review Board.
Pistorius was sentence to five years in jail after shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp dead on 14 February 2013. He has served 10 months of that sentence.
South Africa’s National Proseccution Authority has challenged the culpable homicide verdict.
