The ban on the hunting of lions has been lifted, the Zimbabwe Professional Hunters and Guides Association is reported to have said.
Zimbabwe had instituted a countrywide ban on lion hunting after the killing of the world famous Cecil.
News24 says the ban has been lifted after a bunch of consultations and the sort.
A ban will remain on two farms, one where Cecil killed and where another was also slain. Hunting of collared lions will remain banned. Kinda sucks to be different lion doesn’t it?
It is a decision that will be welcomed by conservationists who rely on the fees from trophy hunting to help with their efforts.
So this is a rather welcome development.
The National Parks and Wildlife Authority is yet to comment on the matter.
