2014 REVIEW: February – The Boity Pic, Then Everything Else

We look at the major events we recorded in February 2014 in our review of the year.

Boity’s nude pic happened. The one where she modeled for Marie Claire and shut it down for everyone and their cousins. She won the Internet with that picture.

Convicted rapist Robert Martin Gumbura was handed his 50 year sentence, an effective 40 years really for his conviction which also included a porn possession rap. We also posted something to explain the porn possession law here.

In that same month, Zimbabwe sent its first ever winter Olympian Luke Steyn who competed in Sochi.

MDC Renewal’s Tendai Biti had his house bombed. Yes that happened.

A new ZBC board was announced with the chairperson having to be replaced soon after.

TB Joshia dropped a prophecy about changes in power in two  Southern African countries.

Some of the new music that month –  Jah Prayzah and Ammara Brown released Kure Kure, Tendai Manatsa dropped Ndichifema which features Stunner, Amard teamed with Crimson Blu for Lose My Number, Davina Green gave us Zvakadaro/Don’t Change.

We lost Zambian striker Dennis Lota.

The National Arts Merits Awards produced a big night for Jah Prayzah. Hip hop artist Black Bird was not happy with the NAMAs so she has penned an open letter which we published.

We reported on a company that will  accept $1,200 to get information for you on whether your spouse is cheating or not.

Oh, and Facebook bought Whatsapp.
