#BBHotshots: Zimbabwean Housemates In Ugly Bust-Up

Two of the Zimbabwean housemates on Big Brother Hotshots were involved in an ugly confrontation yesterday.

Vimbai and Butterphly were involved in a serious exchange of words on Wednesday. Vimbai is among 10 housemates who have been thrown into the house as a prank by Big Brother. The Hotshots think that they are competing for the money.

The account according to bbafanclub.com is:

Vimbai carried on pressing Butterphly’s buttons, accusing her of gossiping about her. Butterphly was not at all impressed, telling Vimbai she was taking low blows by bringing her children into their argument. Her adversary merely retaliated by asking whether she was worried her reputation was being tarnished.

She then tried to pretend she had come in as a big sister to Butterphly, but the latter was confused. She could not understand how Vimbai could say something like that, and tell her she should not align herself with Ugandan Ellah, but then take low blows at her.

JJ tried to step in and handle the situation, but Butterphly wanted to stand her ground alone. She told Vimbai that she did not want to go to bed angry, but Vimbai would not relent. Exasperated, Butterphly calmly left the situation but not without a few parting shots, calling Vimbai Dracula.

In essence what seemed to rile Butterphly was that Vimbai mentioned the former’s children in an argument. Vimbai wasn’t too impressed by what Sulu told her Butterphly had been saying about her.

Why Sulu would snitch we have no idea but that is what it is.

The questions are:

  • Is Vimbai being unfair on Butterphly by bringing up the kids in an argument?
  • Was this a ploy by Sulu to stir Butterphly?
  • Is Butterphly cracking under pressure thus the gossiping about Vimbai? Does she feel threatened by Vimbai?
  • Is the conflict a microcosm of Zimbabwean tendency towards conflict when in foreign spaces? Eg when in the house Zim compatriots tend to avoid each other and never really work together.

We wonder really.
