SA/ZIM Hip Hop Pioneer Mizchif Dies

Super sad news today reaching 3-mob.com HQ. Hip hop supergod, pioneer and all Mizchif has died.

The details are still sketchy at the moment but it is one of the biggest blows to hit the game in a while. We are informed that he was Johannesburg at the time of his death.

He was 38.

In spite of the fact that he hadn’t been active for a while he was the totem pole of a long marginalised industry in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Marwadzo.

Mizchif is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Zimbabwean hip hop. He was born in Highfields, Harare, Zimbabwe and moved to New York at the age of 12 where he started rapping with a crew called the Soul pack. He then moved to South Africa at the age of 18.

He certainly made a huge mark in South Africa where he is believed to be the first to have ever released an independent hip hop album.

He was a video jockey in the early days of Channel O on Nasty. He also presented a hip hop news show on YFM.

Rest in piece king.
