Police To Come Down On Underage Drinking

Zimbabwe’s police force will come down on underage drinking in the country it has been revealed.

Home Affairs deputy minister Ziyambi Ziyambi was quoted in Newsday as saying police would now patrol bars more to catch kids who are drinking.

It is illegal for people under the age of 18 to drink in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe as a whole has a serious drinking culture. to the extent that it would not be entirely inaccurate to say we have a huge number of alcoholics in the country.

There are no statistics on the level of underage drinking but little is done by operators of establishments to stop kids entering pubs and purchasing alcohol.

We think this is a good move.
