So…. No Bus Fare Hikes

So you know that the government went and decided to make it expensive by 100% to go and visit someone who was a tollgate away.

The fear was that bus service providers would hike fares to compensate the new cost, passing the expense to customers and all.

Well the Coaches and Bus Operators Association (CBOA) supports new toll fees and will not be passing cost to you apparently.

Their reason for supporting the increase?

Because this will allow the country to enhance the country’s infrastructure in the anticipated growth of Zimbabwe’s economy.

Said

The 33% increment on our vehicles from $3 to $4 and where the maximum number of toll gates per route is four does not warrant an adjustment in fares.

The opposition National Constitutional Assembly is not a fan though. It has taken government to court over the increase. The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights actually tried to have the increases stopped too.

The increases came into effect on 11 July 2014. These are the increases.
