Zimbabwe’s toll fees have gone up by 100%, a move defended by Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development Minister Dr Obert Mpofu.
Private motorists will now pay $2 up from $1 and haulage trucks $10 up from $5.
Doesn’t sound like much? Well if you use those routes regularly an aspect of your overheads have gone up by 100%. Sure the good minister says this will result in an improvement in the quality of roads. In principle that makes sense.
The facts though are a bit discordant with the position we find ourselves in. The reality is as it stands the market has no money. In fact there is less money on the market now than there was 2 years ago.
So what happens? Cost is passed to end user.
You know it will…
