Zimbabwean award-winning rapper Synik and songstress Tariro NeGitare will represent Zimbabwe in Senegal at the ninth edition of Festa 2H kicking off on the 4th of June 2014 in the country’s capital Dakar.
The festival includes art forms such as rap, graffiti, break-dance, poetry slams, concerts and DJ. It is one Africa’s largest Hip-Hop showcase with 14 countries participating this year.
The Zim Hip-Hop award magnet, real name Gerald Mugwenhi will be sharing the stage with international acts such as Akua Naru( U.S.A) and Pockemon crew (France). The festival will be running for four days ending on the eight of June. With a trophy case of awards and an impressive repertoire of work Synik is a very competent and deserving Zimbabwean representative. The rapper will carry his amazingly emotive performance from HIFA to Festa 2H.
Tariro’s first performance will be at Les Acousti’Coeur Festival, an event on Orientations and Strategies for the Employment of the Young in Africa. This festival has a series of seminars with the final activity being a concert where Senegalese Baaba Maal performs with guest artist. This year the festival will feature 12 African Musicians, amongst them are Steven Bedi (Ghana), and Naneth Nghoke (Gabon). NeGitare is the first Zimbabwean Musician to grace this event and she will share a session with Baaba Maal during the festival, to be held from the 4th – 6th of June 2014.
While in Senegal, Tariro will also perform on the 8th of June at FESTA2H, Africa’s biggest Hip Hop festival. The festival showcases talents from lots of countries such as, Belgium, Mauritania, Brazil, Gambia, Spain, Morocco, Senegal, Switzerland, USA, Denmark, Canada and now Zimbabwe, amongst many.
Her performance in Senegal is facilitated by Hunnar Management Agency, the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Senegal, Senegalese Groupe Atom and Musician Baaba Maal.
