So the recently launched Wene Music Awards have had their processes explained.
At a press conference headed by judges panel chairman Paul Brickhill on Tuesday it was revealed that corporate governance would be at the centre of the panel.
The adjudication board was a self-perpetuating body empowered to replace, add or subtract any adjudicator with a 75% internal quorum. In essence it did not fall under the organsisers of the event.
Minutes would be recorded of every meeting and resolution passed.
All decisions within the adjudication would be strictly confidential and no media leaks would be tolerated. Announcement of winners would kept secret until the very last moment possible
The criteria for entering the awards would be announced in the next few weeks thought it was revealed thatfour types of awards would be given, that is to say recorded music, live music, lifetime achievement and various services to the music industry. Within these awards there would be sub-categories which with be decided by genre; musicianship; contribution, collective, collaborative or solo efforts; and service sectors like production, management and music journalism.
The yardstick for choosing winners would be authenticity, excellence, innovation.
