Introducing ShonaFemmeQueer – My Sexuality Is Only One Aspect Of My Being

This post serves as an introduction to the incorrigible world that is ShonaFemmeQueer’s entire existence.  I suppose this means that I have to write a bit about myself, I’m not even complaining, this is some of ‘my favourite things’ _so really you can imagine…

The first thing you might need to know about me is a definite warning (use it, don’t use it), really these are actual “abandon all hope ye who enter here” vibes that I’m shooting off into the interverse right about now.

ShonaFemmeQueer is a narcissist, you might have noticed this by the sheer fact that she is currently referring to herself in the third person. She is also a writer (reader) and just to drive the point all the way Kumusha I’ll leave you here with an excerpt from one of Victor Hugo’s works:

But it is not self-interest which predominates in the noble nature of poets. Supposing the entity of a poet to be represented by the number ten; it is certain that a chemist on analyzing and pharmacopolizing it, as Rabelais says would find it composed of one part self-interest to nine parts vanity.

The second thing you need to know about me is definitely a disclaimer (sort of) ShonaFemmeQueer is but just one aspect of my (living human currently punching in these keys) being. There is more to me than just her, really, I have other writing personas and they go by other names (which I’m not even trying to mention right now) and their writing styles are very distinct from this one, think Anime vs. Animated movies/series! An entire galaxy’s worth of a difference right there. I will not however be dragging those other identities into this space because the internet is too wide and diverse to be cramming your whole self (selves) into just one rigid space. Also, Claustrophobia…Amen?

My blog ShonaFemmeQueer is a space I decided to set aside for myself and my (queer) story. There aren’t that many bloggers who are black, queer, Shona and frequently experiencing life on either side of the Limpopo River.  There aren’t that many Black, Queer and Shona visible individuals out there, period. This is also my attempt at getting more of those kinds of invisible stories told. This space serves as a marker, a footprint in time and history, this space is me shouting out loud that I will not be erased.  A couple of decades from now  future generations of Shona queers will NOT look back desperately searching for a sign /signs  to approve their claim to their legitimate existence because they will have spaces like these to look back to . Spaces with such staggering indelible proof that we have always been here ‘Taive Pano’

The space speaks my story as a queer individual in its entirety from the politics of my being to the frivolity of my being.  And in my own round about ways, it also celebrates the distinct attributes of one of the things that I love i.e. being Shona.

There are other things that have not been mentioned in the blog that are still part of my shonafemmequeer identity. I’m just going to mention them cause (._.”) Okay fine this is just me trying to sneak in a shout out, allow.  ShonaFemmeQueer loooooves Jnr Brown, whoop whoop!

*hangs head* Yes, I also just wanted to put that in there so that whoever is reading this doesn’t feel too intimidated by me (read: hate my guts) cause you know, if I love a man there is still hope *church hands* so there, I’m betrothed to J breezy, you can read my posts freely now J

*whispers* I’ll still sex your “Ima introduce you to my Mhama” chick though. I kid, I kid. I’m conservative, yada yada yada, like all Zimbabweans supposedly are. I’m rambling; I think we should end the intros on this note.
