So a Harare pastor has been hauled before the courts for possessing adult material and rape.
RMG Independent End Time Message Church founder Robert Martin Gambura is accused with a 24 year-old Tendai Ganyani has two other rape cases pending.
This is what happened according to NewsDay
- On January 18, 2005, Gambura allegedly took the first complainant to his house for counselling because she was in a relationship with someone who was not a member of the church. He threatened her with being ‘committed to the hands of the devil’ if she did not comply. A second time he read s Romans 13:1-7 which talks about submission to authority before raping her. She didn’t report the matter for fear of being cursed. The abuse continued over a long period with the woman falling pregnant and pastor getting her to abort. Among the indecent acts would see the sicko urinate in her mouth to ‘mark his territory’ and group sex acts.
- On a second account he allegedly abused a 17 year-old sister-in-law claiming that it was because of a revelation from God. She reported the abuse after leaving the church
- The third woman came to stay at his house in 2009 with other female church members. He locked her up in his office after which he raped her. She revealed the abuse after she left the church.
- Two pornographic DVDs were found in his house after a police raid.
The systematic abuse, especially in the case of the first complainant is sickening. It is not just the abuse of authority that is disturbing but that made sure that these women were scarred and lived in perpetual fear of him. That is the sort of thing that only sick and twisted people do.
The scary thing though, is that there could be women out there who have been victims of this man who simply can’t come forward because the pain is too strong.
And as we write this, another person of that sort is scarring someone right now.
