Immediate Ban On 8-Seater Ex-Jap Vehicles

The Bulawayo government rag is reporting on an immediate ban on 8-seater ex-Japanese vehicles by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

This is following a spate of horrible accidents involving these vehicles that have claimed lives. The cars in question include the Granvias, Ipsums and Noah range.

The ban only  affects the use of these vehicles for public transportation. Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi says that anyone pirating using these taxis will be arrested.

Transport minister Obert Mpofu said he was unaware of this directive saying that it was something that was up to the police to decide.

Mind you, we think that a lot of the people driving these vehicles are ex kombi drivers who general have no real respect for the rules of the road and when given an open road and a lot of power, they are not as careful as we would want them to be.

In fact they just aren’t careful.
