Erm… swearing makes you stronger and increases stamina, says this study

OK it is not randomly swearing.

But swearing towards the end of a tough workout can increase your strength and stamina University of Keele psychologists have revealed.

Tests conducted showed that swearing created that extra ‘oomph’ to get over the hill.

So swearing aggressively pushes you further than using neutral words.

And after that study which showed that swearing more increased your tolerance for pain.

A possible reason for this is that it stimulates the body’s sympathetic nervous system – that’s the system that makes your heart pound when you are in danger.

If that is the reason, we would expect swearing to make people stronger too, and that is just what we found in these experiments.

Quite why it is that swearing has these effects on strength and pain tolerance remains to be discovered. We have yet to understand the power of swearing fully

Add to that a study that found that people who swear more are more honest.
